Yey, my past works "Cat Guardian" and "Confusion" got featured for the Reader Art on Juxtapoz. Thank you very much, Ert O'Hara. Anyway, I did my pencil work on wood (7.6" x 14.2"), Cat Guardian II in May 2007. I changed her old looks into new one. I copied my real eye shape into this girl character's eyes so I loved it. Please click this big close-up photo collage to full view.
Sorry, I haven't made my story about this yet. But it's so fun to make different styles of Cat Guardian. I was very inspired by heroines. Just like my favorite animator / director Hayao Miyazaki, who made his female characters as leads (Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind). Dang, I wish I seriously could work with Hayao! If I ever meet him in person, I could pee in my pants. BWAHAHAHAHA! This is my wish! Nyahahahaha! Okay, I better stop laughing now.
Hurry up, my fellow cat lovers, this is for sale! (plus FedEx shipping fees, it depends on weight and location). Email me if you're interested. Hope you like it! Ready? On your mark, get set..... BUY! Next time, I might make another work for Cat Guardian III.
Now I'm working on my unfinished wooden painting (work in progress), Babu's Ride. I portrayed my trusted siberian tiger plushie, Shardul. See you in August. Puuurrrmeeoowwwwrrrrrr! Roar!
In April 2007, I was so inspired by the incredible photo Big Tree of my good French friend from Germany, Laurent Orseauafter I commented on it. Then Laurent emailed me, "I also think about your b&w diary drawings... so... hum... would you like to draw thistree with your character (so you) in the image?" I was very thrilled and said, "Oh sure! Of course!". I printed his picture and imagined something before starting. Then I was just copying his image while drawing it on my sketchpad directly. No grid drawing. No tracing. You know what, I kept practicing how to copy and draw those cartoon characters during my childhood years. I think this is one of my favorite personal drawings. It was a little bit difficult to add more details and tones. But it was all good. I forgot to tell you about the size of my drawing. It's 6.3 " X 6.3" (thanks for asking me this, my super lovely sweet friend Raquel).
Every second, every minute, every hour, every day, I love to see those beautiful old trees. I am in awe with them. Sometimes I envy them because they grow bigger, stronger and firmer. They are completely mature. For me personally, I am either mature or immature. All I can say is to become complete and to get out of my stupid foolish things (e.g. drinking alcoholics, hurting myself, etc.) through my long depression. Sigh. Oh, did you see my sexy three scars on my tummy? That's what I got operated last year. (*Mall smiles quietly*). Hmmm, I wanted to live this huge magical tree forever. It reminds me of My Neighbor Totoro. Hurray, my mission accomplished. Whew. I greatly thank Laurent for everything. I salute to you! I would like to feature him and his marvelous impressive photos here. Please visit his Hinah, Flickr, deviantART and VIRB. I really love all of his photos especially many classic portraits of his super beautiful wonderful wifeéloïse. He is one of my favorite incredible photographers. See his self-portrait below (he held his own Xpan camera). Enjoy!
Oh, I forgot to tell you something. Last year, Laurent asked me to do a commissioned painting for his nephew Thierry. He sent me his two wonderful photos of Thierry and my original wooden painting through email. I loved them very much! Thierry really loves snails and piano. Believe it or not, he explains to the kids of his class how snails have sex. Oh my gosh, he is a young handsome intellectual!
Oh my... I'm very talkative here, just like noisy Donald Duck again. (*quack! quack! quack!*) Hope you guys enjoy reading this long post. Sorry that I wasn't active here for awhile. Wow, I am being flooded with good emails and comments. I'll reply to all of you and visit your galleries/blogs when I have time. So wait for my response patiently. Know that I'm very slow at responding, guys. My mama is fine now, thanks for asking. Thanks for the last wonderful comments/hugs/kisses and linking my blog and my short video on your sites. I'm so grateful.
Ciao, here's my very big hug and kiss for you guys.
I dreamt of many gorgeous water lilies and glowing fireflies. They really made me felt very peaceful. I spent time with them longer.
Then... I woke up late and sighed deeply desperately. I'm not completely calm yet.
Choose one for the next post: Mall's Art Diary: Maturity (personal pencil drawing on paper) or Cat Guardian II (pencil on wood)? I'll take care of my dearest weak sick mama at her apartment tomorrow. I'll reply to all of you through email when I'll be back. Good night, guys.
I got an interview from Sayote Republic. Sayote Republic blog is about ex - UP (University of the Philippines) Baguio students. I really miss my university where I graduated in 2001. Oh man, I miss fresh pine cones, wet stairs, volleyball/basketball court, fogs, people, professors, canteens, etc. They are very nostalgic and memorable. For the UP Baguio alumni, please visit and join the great blog! Thanks to Erwin Oliva and Gino Orticio for the interview! Hmmm, I'm on Wikipedia (Scroll down to List of Notable UP Baguio People). I saw this and I thought to myself, "Huh? Am I notable??? NOOOOOOoooo wwwaaaAYYYYY!" I still don't know who put my name on it, but I greatly thank this person. I'm most pleased and grateful.
Alright, it's time to show you guys my old short animated films. I know those who already watched my old animated film, "Pag-Alis" in my deviantART before. But I would like to share this with new online readers and others here, who hasn't watched this yet. I made it in 1999 for my animation project when I was an art student. My art professor Bob instructed me to choose one painting from any famous painter for adding my short film. I chose Van Gogh's famous dreamy painting, The Starry Night. It reminds me of my favorite director Akira Kurosawa's film, Dreams. I made 301 crappy drawings quickly. This song Pag-Alis is entitled by my favorite Filipino band, Barbie's Cradle. This film is about family problems.
About my short animated music film, "Babu's Dream", people were very eager to see it if it's done. Well sorry, it seems unfinished. I wanted to add more scenes but I can't... Well, I'm lazy, bwahahaha! Okay, I let you guys watch this now, it runs at one minute something (I know, it's too short). In 2006, I started to work on it because I really missed my old animation skill and my challenge was to make a film with my own style. It was so fun to experiment it. About the music, I asked my friend Blackmago to make a song for my film, he did it. After more months, I lost his music file because my brother formatted my CPU. (Sorry Blackmago, if I could ever make another film, you could make a song. *hugs*) I chose my favorite song, "Early Bird" by Yoko Kanno.
Time: 1:29 Editting: Windows Movie Maker Project Medium: cutout stars (copper papers with hand-painted white acrylic), few dried leaves from my garden, pencil drawings and digital (Adobe Photoshop)
I seriously wished I could learn how to use Macromedia Flash or Adobe Premiere. I was strongly inspired by my favorite animator Hayao Miyazaki. For me personally, I'm not good in animating skills. But I enjoyed to create this experimental film. If I have an idea, I could make another short film again. I would love to hear your thoughts and comments about my films. Thanks, guys! See you next time.
Next post: Mall's Art Diary: Calmness, personal drawing
Because I was crazily depressed. I can sense my own beloved sweet character Babu was worried about me and my health. I need to stop suffering from depression and alcoholism. Sorry, my handwriting fonts don't look good because of my shaking nervous hands last time. (*Mall drinks a warm milk gently and stretches her hands*)
I already finished doing my 3 personal drawings for my art diary: Calmness, Maturity and ... hmm, I'll find a right word. I'll post them next time. Ohhh today, I received more good emails again, I thank you all. Please wait patiently for my response, hope you understand me. Next week, I'll see and meet a psychiatrist about Nullity cases (marriage) of my parents and other family problems. See you soon.

She lives in La Union, Philippines. She always walks to the beach when she takes a break from her art schedule. If you don't know about her hearing deficiency, read her official speech.
Her nickname " Mall " means her full name, May Ann Lumbang Licudine.
