200 Best Illustrators worldwide 09/10

Confusion
personal work for my art diary

Yesterday, my mama got a phone call and called me "May Ann! Phone!" I went down and I told her "But mama, I can't answer that phone 'coz of my hearing deficiency... unless I can read their lips so I would understand what they're talking." Mama didn't understand what they were talking because of the uncleared sound during long distance telephone. I told her "Uhmm, tell them it's better to email me." Then I checked my email after a few hours. When I read it, I was speechless. My heart was beating so fast. An email from Luerzer's Archive said that I got selected from more than 4000 illustrations. My old personal work Confusion is going to be published of Best 200 Illustrators worldwide (Luerzer's Archive 09/10) soon. Sniff, I'm quite happy, I still can't believe it. Thank you so much for selecting me, Luerzer! :)

Apart from that, I received a customized vinyl toy from my client Nick. It's named Mellow, created by Christopher Lee. Mellow is extremely cute yet sad. He makes me wanted to hug him tightly, awwww. Nick requested me to customize it, I was super thrilled because this is my first time. In April, I'll be ready to paint Mellow into dreamy, mystical one. I can't wait to start doing my rough studies! Thanks to Nick, who let me to take my time. I'm so happy that my customized toy will be part of Nick's Mellow collections soon.

By the way, I also received a package from Nucleus Gallery. They wanted me to sign my name on 25 limited prints "The Notorious Ornate Horned Frog". The prints are so beautiful! I'll send them back to Nucleus Gallery next week. Don't forget to watch them when they will launch them on their site, only 25 limited prints! I greatly thank to Nucleus Gallery for supporting me and my art! I really appreciate it! In time, I would love to meet Nucleus Gallery people in person!

And I'll list my original small ACEO paintings in my Etsy shop (UPDATED: Philippines time: Sunday, 11:55pm... Sorry, I didn't list them on Etsy last night it's because of Earth day, no electricity. It's good for Mother Earth.). It's USD$25 each small colored painting. The medium is acrylic and colored pencil on paper. The size of each painting is 3.5" X 2.5" inches. Good luck, art buyers!

Nature II (UPDATED, two new pictures)

Remember my past blog entry about nature photography? Past few days ago, I enjoyed taking few photos, that made me feel relaxed and comfortable. Enjoy viewing my pictures.

Sorry, there are no snails because of extreme hot weather here. I was watering my plants in the garden. We need rains here!
And do you remember my handmade terra cotta sculpture, Piggie? He's still alive. I bet he's happy to have many friends like black creatures, insects, butterflies, etc.
My precious beach where I live near...
Seaweed... Seaweed Land.
Corals... with mosses? Hehehehe, cute tiny seaweeds. I know shy crabs hide themselves.
And my male cat is named ChowChow. I found him in the garden past few years ago. I didn't know him and where he was from. He was a lost kitten. So I took him to become my new family. Now, he's growing up fast. He's so handsome and sweet, isn't he? He loves to bite my wrist and my feet playfully.

See you my next Nature chapter III photography!

I have more family activities this March. Glad that my brother Jeremy, sister-in-law Willen and their adorable handsome baby son, Liam are staying with us for their short vacation. I was finally happy that I made my first nephew Liam s

My First Personal Comic: Babu and Abu

Today is my birthday, ol' me.
I love strawberry cake. Oh, my character Babu really loves to tease me at all times.

Many friends dared me to make a Winsor McCay style comic past few years ago. It made me realized that I should do it for my birthday this time. I did my first personal comic for 5 days. The size of the oslo paper is 12 inches X 1
8 inches ( it's not the same size of McCay's original drawing ). Argh, my right hand is a little bit painful but I really enjoyed doing my comic. For me personally, I think it's really hard to think alot about concept, story, elements, details, perspective, characters, panels, compositions, more before starting a comic. I loved to learn alot from McCay's brillance, creative and intelligence. Yey, my mission accomplished. I really hope you guys enjoy reading my comic. Here's my photo collage.

I hope I could have time to make more next colored comics in the future. Good news, I made my first ACEO two small original pencil drawings. ACEO stands for " Art Cards, Editions and Originals ". These cards have one main rule - they are 3.5 inches by 2.5 inches - the size of a trading card. They fit comfortably into trading card sleeves and trading card frames. ACEO artworks are perfectly suitable for your art collection.

Why did I make my ACEO artworks? Because my fans kept emailing to me that they can't afford my big original works. They said they wish I could make ACEO artworks so they want to buy them, awww. It's USD $15 each drawing. Next time, I'll make more ACEO pencil / colored artworks when I have time. I'll list them on my Etsy shop maybe after my birthday, keep watching them, my fellow buyers. Sorry, I don't accept reserved listing / art trade. Good luck!
