Big Gossip

I know that you all waited patiently for my mixed media Big Gossip since 2008. At least, I'm finally happy that I have finished my work this time. Hooray for me. *Mall smiles widely*

I must admit that I'm sometimes tired of my own bright happy color technique, I don't know the reason. But I never stop painting bright colored ones, I always love it. Instead my bright color scheme, I tried to find an inspiration about colors so I loved to learn and observe more new things for my new medium. I discovered interesting vintage colors of many old Japanese traditional paintings in Japan Reference site...

And of course, I also love some vintage colors and black lines of the old famous comics, The Yellow Kid and Little Nemo in Slumberland. That's why their vintage style color technique made me wanted to experiment my new medium including wood burning.

So before I started my mixed media piece, I was very impressed by the photographic works of Hiromi Tsuchida about "Festival". I really enjoyed viewing their weird Japanese costumes, characters and face expressions.

I made a rough sketch. Creepy but I love it.

I was sketching, woodburning, painting with acrylics, colored pencils, charcoal, making textures and scratching my wood board with my fork (I'm not violent, seriously! I just made it looked vintage-style, so fun ehehehe!) And ta-da!

Come Away With Me + Nature III

MRhhhrrrmmmm... Sorry guys, I can't be active on internet. My new broadband sucks, it's super slow. So I was away from my crappy net and I kept busy with my hectic schedule, running errands and dealing with my bad news / personal problems for more weeks. Anyway, I greatly thank you very much for your comments on my blog. I'm so sorry for not replying to all of you. I'll try to do my best, hope I may have time to reply you all.

This time, I disable comments on my blog again. No worries, you guys can talk to me anytime in my private Twitter account http://twitter.com/shardula I hope I could be active there if my net should be faster. I think it's easier and better to communicate with you all directly in Twitter than my blogger.

I'm fully relieved that Nucleus Gallery got my package, whew. I can't wait to post my new artworks in August! By the way, I wait patiently for my clients' requests, I let them to think their ideas for my art commissions. I also have other few art projects, I haven't started doing them yet. I need to take more rest and gain more weight (my weight is 94 lbs. oh no, I should eat more foods!). I know, I should stay healthier, stronger and more active!

Oh, this is my small art commission for Jorge. Last June, She contacted me asap on Etsy and asked me to make a small drawing for her niece's July birthday. I made a graphite drawing for one hour, that's my character girl, Aya, remember? I was so happy that Jorge liked it. Happy Birthday girl!

Alright, it's time to share my simple photos with you all about Nature Part III! When I was away from the net, I enjoyed learning how to use manual settings with my Nikon dslr. Ok, I'm starting to tell you my photo-story, weee!

Here are my old hand-sculpted terra cotta works again. I love to see my creatures in my garden every afternoon. In 1999, I learned from my art professor about terra cotta sculpturing. I sculpted them for 3 days and indeed, my hands were totally messier like a real mud. Then I let them dry in a cool store for 3 or 4 days... until they became hard like a stone. I prepared a small bonfire for baking my terra cotta sculptures in my garden. The baking time ran at 4-5 hours. After that, they were too hot! I let them stay cool. Then ta-da! After more years, of course they are already cracked, mossed and damaged because of the extreme weather (e.g. typhoons, etc.) But I love those details... so nostalgic and magical.

He seems frustrated because he's always hungry. Now he stares at me seriously.

MISS MALL! WHERE'S MY FOOD???

WHERE ARE THOSE APPLES??? I NEED THEM! I'M SO HUNGRY! Aye, he still waits for falling apples while carrying his basket... sweetly impatient...

My dog and another pig. I named dog "J" because... well alright, James was my first crush in my elementary. Sadly, the dog's nose and pig's ear were lost, sniff.

I adore his dimples, yes, he reminds me of Chuck Jones' Looney Tunes character - Porky Pig.

Another my piggie sculpture. I put him in the terra pot so he watches over my plants, lol.

I'm not an orchid fan. But they always make me smile.

I captured that bright green leaf. Sweet.

Yummy blue sky. I enjoy laying down on my ground.

I enjoy exploring more hidden things inside the creepy trees. Fungus ghost or kodoma creatures?

Another dead bat. Poor him. Why do we have many bats here? I guess they need my blood... that's why I have anemia, hehehehe (I'm so corny).

Hello, my baby branch.

I enjoy smelling fresh pine scent! I love you, Mr. Pine Tree!

Can you find my cat named Sour-Puss?

Aye, he enjoys relaxing.... lazy cat, I know.

Breezy bushes. OHHHMMMmmmm....

And goodbye to my old Sony Cybershot digicam... Meet my new boyfriend, Nikon D90 dslr camera. I was so happy to buy dslr after saving monies since 2004. Anyway, hope you guys enjoy my pictures. I'll post my next blog entry about my new work, Big Gossip later on. I have to sleep now. Goodnight my fellow readers, don't forget to see me in Twitter.

RIPPERS

Hello guys! I'm so sorry for not being active on internet. My crappy old DSL net keeps getting booted during heavy rains. Hopefully we will get a new broadband soon.

I warn you guys about the rippers. My friend Anne-Julie Aubry contacted me that PAK GREEN stole one of my illustrations and her illustrations too for their T-shirts. Anne-Julie said Tuktukshop store on DaWanda (and also in their local store in France) told her that these tees are mass produced in Thailand and are sold from a designer named PAK GREEN. I took screenshots so check them out. Actually, they have removed their tees on site already.

I don't remember the artist's name but I know this famous art.

If anyone knows PAK GREEN, please contact me and Anne-Julie. I hate the way how PAK GREEN does like that e.g. using our arts without permission, making mass production, etc. But not only PAK GREEN, i can sense that there are more "hidden" merchandising places... please let me know if you see one of my illustrations on any products like tees, bags, etc. anywhere especially local stores.

In fact, my friend Mark Salvatus went to Bangkok where he had group exhibit last year. He asked me if I was collaborating with Bangkok people about the art business. I said no. He said that he saw my illustrations (buttons / badges, etc.) at the small merchandising store. He didn't take pics of those products 'coz they said "no pictures, please". He also asked them if they could have their site so they said no. They seemed very tricky. Tsk tsk, those people have no heart, I mean, they are totally bad. In time, if Mark could go to Bangkok again, he will investigate them. Sigh... aarRRRGGGH!

Apart from that, I have finished my 8 artworks (colored ones and vintage-style graphite ones) for the next art group show "Tree House" in Nucleus Gallery. My gosh, I can't believe that my friend Raquel Aparicio also participates too, high five sweetie! I'm super thrilled that Chris Appelhans, Tadahiro Uesugi, Sun Young Yoo, Yoko Tanji and Veronique Joffre are also going to be in the same show! Eeee, they are perfectly suitable for the Tree House show!

I'll ship my parcel to them soon. Unfortunately, I cancelled to visit USA in July 2009 (sorry Nucleus Gallery and my friends but I love you all hehehe). Hopefully, we might travel to USA in time *please cross fingers*. I'll post my artworks on my blog in August, you guys need to be patient, hehe.

Anyway, I'll be away from the internet and art commissions / projects. I want to regain my strength, renew my mind, take more rest, talk to my plants / little creatures in my garden, find a pure happiness / peace and solve my complex family problems, hopefully. I miss you all. Good day to all of you, good night to me! *Mall jumps on a fluffy soft cloud and flies to Slumberland* ZZZzzzzZZzzzz..... . . . .

Red and Blue Tsunami Queens

Sorry guys, I didn't go to Manila for the monster opening show. I would like to thank you very much Dexter Fernandez (I got invited by him), Luis Lorenzana (took care of my pieces gently and framed my monster comic) and Julius Babao, who is a famous TV anchor / presenter from TV Patrol and XXX shows, bought my pieces (thank you for writing your blog about me and my art, Sir Julius... my gosh, I can't believe that you're a REAL Julius Babao...?) Thanks guys for making me big smile! :D

I made two mixed media pieces for the If I were a monster art group show. The size of both pieces is 9" x 11" inches. Let me explain my monster art pieces, Red Tsunami Queen and Blue Tsunami Queen. The red one: an active girl spreads her heavy monstrous period (menstruation). The blue one: a calm girl finishes flowing her light monstrous period. That's what I learned from my male classmates in college. Boys are sometimes scared of a woman's disgusting period. So they don't like to touch nor smell nor see it and they sometimes scream "EEEEEWWWWWWW... DUGO! (BLOOD!)"...

I created my few new words: Red Tide and Red Tsunami, hehehe. Honestly, when I don't feel good, they can ask me why, I always say "Ugh, I'm having a red tsunami today." They sometimes don't understand what I mean, hahaha.

I also made an extra comic for the art installment. Not for sale. I really love to make more more comics.

Please visit the monster site, they will upload more great monster artworks soonest! Now I'm workin' on my new pieces for the next art group show (including few very prolific illustrators, yes!), "Tree House" in Nucleus Gallery. The tree theme is perfectly suitable for my art, yey! I should finish 5 - 8 pieces before August. Sneakie peekie... vintage style ones, graphite one, colored ones, etc... (sorry, no reserving... but you can contact Nucleus Gallery). Have a great night, my people!
